About

For years, I have tried to support businesses that routinely give back to the community. Probably the best known and one of the most generous is Newman’s Own, which was founded by the actor Paul Newman. After taxes, Newman’s Own directs all profits to a

variety of causes, such as a camp in Connecticut for seriously ill children. According to the Newman’s Own website, since 1982, the company has donated more than $200 million. In so doing, Newman’s Own has generated a good deal of publicity.

But there are many other businesses that give back to their communities in a variety of forms. Most of these do not generate any publicity. So, in all probability, a good deal of their customers are unaware that these acts of generosity are taking place.

This site, Doing Good, While Doing Business, is designed to introduce you to some of these businesses. So, the next time you want to purchase an item, check with us.

You may well be able to do some good, while you are doing business.
