Joan Hornig Foundation: Exquisite Philanthropic Jewelry

According to Joan Hornig, her website has two main goals. It enables people to purchase unique pieces of jewelry while they also donate to their favorite charities. All of the profits generated by the jewelry sales are directed to charities selected by the buyers.  Since 2003, Joan has been able to develop her “passion for jewelry, education, and philanthropy through creation of the Joan B. Hornig Foundation.” The mission of the foundation is “to provide support for registered charitable organizations throughout the world.”

You trigger the donations and direct where they go when you make a purchase. Your purchase will help the list of recipient charities grow and make an impact on organizations whose missions you care about.

The over 300 organizations that have received “substantial” contributions include the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, the American Cancer Society, the Children’s Defense Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC, Autism Speaks, Doctors Without Borders, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Among the items available for sale are necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and charms.

Joan’s designs blend tradition with a contemporary aesthetic. References to nature and classical forms come alive with a freshness created through scale, balance, color and movement.

Joan studied the history of art as an undergraduate at Harvard College before earning her MBA at Columbia Business School. The combination of her artistic interests and her business experience has enabled her to create a line that marries her passions – beauty, individuality and philanthropy.

Joan’s jewelry is meant to be noticed and talked about as it carries the all important message that philanthropy is beautiful, personal and worth promoting.
