Crop to Cup (C2C)

Coffee. It sometimes costs several dollars for a cup. But, you probably already know that in most instances the coffee farmer, who often lives a barely subsistence life, receives only a tiny fraction of that amount. All too often, numerous middlemen — between the farmer and the consumer — take a disproportion amount of the profits.

Crop to Cup wants to change that dynamic. “Yes, we are a middle man, but we are the only middle man between you and the farmer.”

Our sales team contacts cafes, restaurants, markets, fundraiser and Internet users to introduce people to Crop to Cup farmers. When a retail customer … opts-in to the Crop to Cup Changemaker Program $1 per pound goes directly back to farmers and to efforts to help them sell more coffee. Half of the $1 goes to getting the word out so as to move more coffee (via printing farmer promotional materials for our resellers, purchasing of technology to put our farmers online, etc.), and the other half goes back directly to the farmers, who see a value increase of roughly 45% for the pounds of coffee sold through the program…. In addition to the $1 from each pound sold through the C2C Changemaker Program, we donate 10% of our profits back to Coffee Committees (democratic local stakeholder groups that are structured like Rotary Club International and function like a Chamber of Commerce) and their community projects.
